Carbon Recycle is pleased to announce it has secured funding to undertake a feasibility study for its proposed end‑of‑life tyres pyrolysis facility in Collie, Western Australia.
This project is supported by the Western Australian Government through the Collie Futures Small Grants Program, part of the broader Collie Just Transition initiative. Carbon Recycle acknowledges the support of the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Water, Climate Resilience and the South West, the Honourable Don Punch MLA, the Member for Collie–Preston, Jodie Hanns MLA, the South West Development Commission, and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.
The proposed project will assess the development of a pyrolysis plant in Collie using proven technology to convert up to 30,000 tonnes per annum of end‑of‑life tyres into renewable diesel and recovered carbon black. The feasibility study will inform the project’s technical, commercial and environmental viability and support a future Final Investment Decision.
If developed, the project has the potential to:
- support economic diversification in Collie as the region transitions from coal‑related industries;
- create skilled employment opportunities in the South West;
- strengthen Australia’s manufacturing capability; and
- contribute to improved fuel security through domestic production of lower‑carbon fuels.
